Before mom left to head back home to Nashville, we drove over to West Arkansas and visited the town of Hot Springs, which houses several natural hot spring, becoming the first federal reserve and national park and is also where Bill Clinton grew up, I think. On this day, a poorly aging bitter grey haired koa "kamp" lady yelled at me and told me I was naive and needed to grow up. I left in protest unsure of where I would stay the night. I'm so glad it happened because I got to stay with an awesome family, who took me to a great dinner that happened to be next to a comedy club that was having an open mic. Awesome! The whole family went to see standup for the first time, including Zane, 13, who after seeing the name of the venue said "a comedy club named the joint, those are like her two favorite things!" The first stop I made was at the Living Kitchen Farm in Depew. Linda and her wife Lisa invited me to stay in an empty cabin they have on their property. They use the cabin to host farm to table dinners and it was da bomb. When I arrived I was greeted by many friendly faces, many of them animal faces, I love animal faces!! As the walk has evolved I have become less concerned about covering every mile by foot, and more enthralled with the chance in the journey. this was my first time getting a hotel room out of a gig, very exciting! I am having to "stealth" camp more. When one stealth camps you basically throw up your tent wherever you think people won’t murder you in the night. You want to stay clear of cacti, rattle snakes, large fire ant compounds and awaking surrounded by cattle in the morning. You throw up the tent after sunset as not to be seen, and you must rise with the sun for the same reason.
